School of Engineering
Educational Philosophy and Aims
In line with the philosophy of the School of Engineering, “Based in Nagasaki, a city echoing the heartbeat of Asia, the School seeks to contribute to the sustainable development of society by acquiring intelligence, spirit, strong understanding of science and technology to shape the future.”, we cultivate new talent through strong engineering ethics, discovering novel issues, and encouraging the ability to pursue ideas as well as communicate effectively – all of which are required as engineers.
Structural Engineering program fosters engineers who can contribute to a wide range of manufacturing, with basic knowledge of structural design of buildings, bridges, cars, plants, ships, airplanes and space-structures, to be able to build them by acquiring fundamental ability of theory, design and construction technique to build those structures. Core principles include:
- To make students acquire fundamental knowledge of structural engineering such as mathematics, mechanics, computer-simulation, design drafting those required to build safely various kinds of structures in industrial society.
- To aid students to acquire English proficiency in order to have an international perspective.
- To provide a curriculum to acquire a first class qualified architect qualification. Educational content
This program foster the ability of advanced professional engineers and researchers to correspond to the needs of Structural Engineering field in industrial society, by acquiring advanced specialized knowledge with an international perspective.
Graduate School of Engineering
Master’s degree Department of Advanced Engineering
The Graduate School of Engineering, Department of Advanced Engineering has an educational aim with the fundamental principles of “As an engineering education and research base that contributes to the development of the technological society in coexistence with nature, we foster engineers who can flourish globally by acquiring highly specialized practical skills and promoting original research to create a variety of intellectual values.”
Accepting graduates into the Schools of Engineering, our education aim is therefore to train highly specialized engineers and researchers with high internationality to meet the demand of industries and society.
Research content
Research in fundamental theories and applications of a structural analysis : Static behavior, dynamic stability and response analysis of structures. Analysis and control of large systems. Computer simulation and computer graphics.
Research into development of structural materials, construction techniques, optimum planning and design of structures, for harmonizing structures between humans and the environment, by interpreting each structural system field (planning, design and construction) systematically.
Introduction of some researches
